TANDEM presents specifications for development of safety and techno-economic analysis case studies

At the end of June 2023, TANDEM published Deliverable 1.4 (D1.4) which summarises the outcomes of the work undertaken under Work Package 1 (WP1). The focus of WP1 is to develop basic concepts which will enable the construction of hybrid energy systems.  As part of this work, D1.4 provides a description of selected study cases for safety, techno-economic analysis and optimisation.  In this respect, the document provides specifications for two energy study cases, based on the characterisation of two hybrid energy systems studied across the TANDEM project and their corresponding components.

These two systems are configured to provide both district heating and power, as well as for use in energy hub operations. The study cases will be implemented as use-cases in the TANDEM project to demonstrate the relevance and efficacy of the methods and tools developed by the project. They are aligned with the two European energy scenarios which reflect the most likely energy mix projections with the goal of demonstrating the benefits which Small Modular Reactors (SMR) can bring between 2035 and 2050.
