Today and tomorrow the TANDEM project is organising a hybrid technical workshop hosted by French Alternatives Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), in Cadarache, France. Around 40 people are attending this workshop. Over the two days MSc and PhD students, PostDocs, young and experienced researchers and engineers will learn more about the potential role that hybrid energy systems including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) play in the ongoing energy transition. Topics to be covered during the workshop include non-electric applications of SMRs (such as district heating, hydrogen production, sea water desalination and synthetic fuel production) as well as the coupling of SMRs with other energy sources and energy storage systems in hybrid energy systems.
